👀 Just one goal: Out with the old, in with the New

Core problems and challenges:

Take a look at the old dashboard platform

1. Usability

During the company’s switch of their underlying platform, they wanted a refresh and realignment of the current product which was outdated, lacked good visual data representation and efficient navigation system.

2. Cluttered

The need for a redesign was gotten from taking in insights from Acclinate’s clientele as well as perspectives from their internal team, indicating the platform looked visually outdated and out of touch with industry standard.

Tacking the problem with swift and effective decisions

Having never worked on a health tech platform before, I started with understanding and aligning with the clients goals and needs for the project.

Insights from clienteles reviews and stakeholders needs

•  We want to start fresh visually as well as with the UX in helping people navigate the site.

•  Users must have an easier way to view/locate:

•  Exploring our data set. Whether that’s participants, race, locations

•  Participating/Submitting. Being able to easily navigate & find out how to submit a trial to us. (This is where we make our sale)Reporting.

•  Easy to read & visually stunning reports. We have the data, but what is the best way to display & interact with it?

The client communicated the project had a 3 weeks deadline, understanding this constraint led me continue research with the data gotten from the client interviews and alignment meetings, carrying out over-the-desk research, heuristics evaluation of the entire web platform, mapping out the current information architecture and site-mapping.

Next approach was synthesising this data’s and restructuring based off the pain-points and results gotten from the research, drawing up, user stories and acceptance criteria’s, user-flows and new information architecture before moving on to wire-framing and iterations.

Building the solution by experimenting

By focusing on user-centric design for a web app dashboard

Multiple iterative rounds of the proposed design solutions, resulting to:

•  5 wireframe versions - consisting of at least 10 core dashboard pages each

•  4 high-fidelity designs where created and tested before making a decision

Doing this exercise helped the team and I have a clear vision on the best design style, layout and approach that meets the goals of the client and their users.

📊 Results and what's next?

The redesigned user experience for the revamped user/admin facing "dashboard," helped increased user satisfaction during testings and amounted to 95% client approval among all stakeholders and contributing to an average review score increasing from 2.5 to 4.0 in comparison to the old platform.

🎙️ Feedback I got?
Collins was the lead designer representing Outliant on Acclinate project, I can’t lie, he was a major hit for the team, communicated well, and articulated his design decisions profoundly, always kept us updated and in the loop at every stage. Well done Collins, great work you’ve done here
